Preparations are afoot for the 31st Grand Poothamkutty Bible Convention and Ettunombu Perunal

POOTHAMKUTTY: Arrangements for the 31st Grand Poothamkutty Bible Convention and Ettunombu perunal are progressing pretty well. St. Mary's Jacobite Syrian Christian Church, Poothamkutty is one among the illustrious Marian Pilgrim Centres of the Malankara Jacobite Syrian Christian Church. From a humble beginning with a membership of 30 families, the Church has grown into a full- fledged Parish with considerable number of memberships and subsequent developmental activities. As in the previous years, this year also there are a series of various spiritual, cultural and medical programmes in connection with the Ettunombu Perunal. The perunal programme will start with the inauguration of Grand Poothamkutty Bible Convention on 31st August 2014. In addition to a titanic number of dignitaries and renowned personalities from different walks of life, Prelates of various Christian denominations would also decorate the podium with their esteemed presence and felicitations.

Mar Ephrem Narikulam (Ordained Bishop of Syro-Malabar Diocese of Chanda) would inaugurate the 31st Grand Poothamkutty Bible Convention on 31st August 2014. As part of ettunombu celebrations, meetings of the Martha Mariam Vanitha Samajam will be held along with various competitions. Free Eye and Dental Camp by Vasan Eye care and Dental care will be held on 31st of August. A three-day Family orientation retreat has been arranged for the spiritual purification and upliftment of families which will be led by the St. Paul mission of india from 1st September to 3rd.

On 7th September, Pachor Thulabhaaram, a traditional custom of the parish will be held in the evening in which hundreds of people irrespective of caste, creed and colour would partake with prayers and proper preparations followed by veneration of Holy Soonoro (portion of the Girdle of St.Mary, Mother of God) kept at the Church in separate mausoleum. A grand procession will be held in which thousands of faithful would participate with lighted candles and traditional items.

Metropolitans their Graces Dr. Abraham Mor severios ( Angamaly Region of Angamaly Diocese and Abbot of Mor Gabriel Dayro), Mathews Mor Theodosius ( Kollam Diocese), Dr. Elias Mor Athanasios ( Trissur Diocese), Kuriakose Mor Ivanios ( Ranny Region of Knanaya Archdiocese), Yacob Mor Anthoniyos ( Honavar Mission and Manglore Diocese), Issac Mor Osthathios ( Mylapore Diocese), Elias Mor Yulius ( High Range region of Angamali Diocese), Mathews Mor Anthimos ( Muvattupuzha Dioceses) would bless the occasion with their presence on various days. For the smooth functioning, various committees have been elected under the guidance of the Vicar Rev.Fr. Eldo Chackyattil.
